HELP!

The European Forest and Vegetation Map Catalogue (EFMC) is now available on the Web at: http://www.efi.fi/Forestry_Databank/efmc/. EFMC was created by UNEP/GRID and NASA Gobbard Space Flight Centre. A PC based database was released in 1997. In 1998, UNEP/GRID and the European Forest Institute started their official co-operation and it was decided to make an Internet-based EFMC to provide the meta-information not only to the community of European forest/vegetation data users but to the global community as well. Now this work is completed and EFMC team invites you to visit the Web site. The map meta-information was updated in 1998 when the database construction work started. In order to keep the meta-information up-to-date, EFMC team decided to continue the updating process and to seek for more available map meta-information. You are welcome to make your contributions through a Web questionnaire or by downloading the questionnaire in Word rtf (or Wordperfect formats and sending the filled questionnaire via mail or fax (address following). The EFMC team is looking forward to your visit to the Web site and to your contributions. Sincerely, Chijien LIN (on behalf of EFMC team), Information Systems Manager, European Forest Institute, Torikatu 34, 80100 Joensuu, Finland. Taxonomic resource databases and others - Databases created by the Association of Sytematics Collections (ASC) can be found on Internet and they include forms for submitting new listings. They are both focused on North America, but include information from elsewhere as well. One focuses on taxonomists (Taxonomic Resources and Expertise Database or TRED), while the other deals with collections.

A list of entomological collections worldwide (based on the Arnett and Samuelson book) is maintained at Bishop Museum.

A list of entomologists (not just taxonomists) interested in the Pacific compiled by the Pacific Science Association and Bishop Museum is also available at http://www.bishopmuseum.org/bishop/psa/pacentodir.html
