WHAT KIND OF REMOTE SENSING DO YOU NEED? Searching for the right type of imagery to use for your inventory/monitoring project? Check out Pacific Meridian's Image Advisor at http://www.xmission.com/~pmrslc/html/index.html. This site helps you select the imagery sources available for automated classification based upon your spatial resolution, areal extent of analysis, spectral resolution and temporal resolution needs.
See also the Multispectral Imagery Interpretability Rating Scale - http://www.fas.org/irp/imint/niirs_ms/msiirs.htm and the Civil National Imagery Interpretability Rating Scale - http://www.fas.org/irp/imint/niirs_c/index.html
I am compiling a listing of your favorite or most used web sites for
forest resource inventory and monitoring needs. What I am looking
for are sites which cover thematic aspects of assessments and inventories,
techniques, updates on major issues. Clearing house type sites that
have lots of maps or glossaries and databases are also be helpful. If you
have one or two favorite sites that you use frequently and would like to
share, please send me the URL directly. I would also be
interested in knowing your top two inventory, remote sensing or GIS
favorite publications. We will 'publish' both listings in a future FIU.
