From Kim Phat Nophea "I am just wondering whether anybody is interested in editing the English of my master thesis. The title of my thesis is "study on forest management problems in Cambodia". It includes management history, analysis on management problems, wood demand and supply and deforestation, and so on. Besides a very comprehensive information on forestry and forest management in Cambodia (the past and present) that you'll receive, you will be acknowledged on this thesis. The number of people who want to read my thesis have increased, and I want its English edited before distributing. There are about 120-page long, including figures and tables. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Nophea KimPhat, Ph.D. Student, Tel: 81(265)77-1514, Fax: 77-1515, (Res) Tel/fax: 81(265)73-7017. Email: fplan01@gipmc.shinshu-u.ac.jp." INVENTORY AND MONITORING OF NON TIMBER PRODUCTS is a chapter in the forthcoming Assessment of Non Timber Forest Products, United States of America. The Assessment is scheduled for release in May 2000; it is an outgrowth of activities by members of the non-wood subcommittee of the North American Forest Commission's forest products study--see web site . To complete this project, we need any information on research field designs that have been used to study and sample various special forest product categories such as berries, mushrooms, edible plants, medicinal plants, and others. Please send pertinent information on existing publications; state, federal, and local government reports; and unpublished but available studies in the U.S. to: Leon Liegel, Pacific Northwest Research Station, 3200 SW Jefferson Way, Corvallis, OR 97331 USA; Message Tel. 541-750-7348; FAX 541-758-7760; e-mail liegell@fsl.orst.edu

Jim Stevenson suggest that in future issues of FIU: "we encourage someone or some people to volunteer to report back on meetings and give the people who couldn't go, an insight into what went on. With the world being so small now, information wise, but opportunities to travel still relatively rare, it would make sense to utilise the people who could go to provide info back to the rest of us, on a 'quid pro quo' basis." This is an excellent suggestion. I would welcome short reports on inventory/GIS/remote sensing meetings. Include things like the objectives of the meeting, number of participants, significant findings and how others can get copies of any proceedings - Gyde.
