Advertising with the GAOF
What is the GAOF?
The aim of the GAOF - Global Association of Online Foresters - is to increase the understanding of forestry by improving communication world-wide. Membership is FREE as the object is to encourage people from all walks of life and from all parts of the world to become involved. As a result the GAOF has developed into a forum for the exchange of information on current topics relating to forestry.
To maintain it's independance, the GAOF has never sought or received support from grant giving bodies. Instead the GAOF depends on receiving payments from advertisers or donations from members. If you would like to help the GAOF continue to provide and develop an enhanced service, please consider advertising on the GAOF web site.
Why you should advertise with the GAOF?
By advertising on our web site you will be contacting members of the GAOF (currently there are over 6000 members ) and the thousands of visitors to our web site (19,628 visitors in October 2005).
How to advertise with the GAOF?
To guarantee you get advertising space you can go for the standard pricing structure. When contacting us please specify which page you wish to advertise, select banner or popup, link to your page etc. Please note that there are alternatives (other pages, rates, discounts for longer periods etc.) and we are very flexible.
Examples of Adverts
Adverts are rotated randomly between advertisers so all get equal exposure. The maximum number of advertisers for each page is fixed which means the fewer advertisers the more exposure you get!!
Banner
These are a maximum of 500 x 100 pixel. They should not be large (recommend no greater than 30kb)otherwise visitors will have moved on before the graphic downloads.

Rates for Advertising
The following are the current prices:
- The rates are for one calendar month
- Rates are shown in various currencies (US dollars, Euros and UK pounds) see currency exchange
- Rates do not include VAT - please note new VAT rules.
- Payment is via PayPal(you can pay by credit card or Paypal account). Either click on the "buy" buttons below or we can send you a PayPal invoice.
- Payments are not tax-deductible as the GAOF is not a registered not-for-profit organisation.

What now?
The GAOF will do all it can to help you promote your company or organisation.
You will need to provide us with the URL (the location) you wish us to link to and a copy of your banner. You can send the banner:
- As an attachment to an e-mail in standard .JPEG or .GIF format
- If it is on the Internet let us have the URL
Alternatively we can arrange for one to be designed for you - all you need is to send us your ideas for the advert and we will do the rest. We may need to charge an additional fee unless it is very simple e.g. text or use of existing logo.

VAT rules
Under the new VAT rules (UK) brought in July 2003, this service is deemed to be an Electronically Supplied Service. The following rules apply:
- UK businesses - VAT charged at standard rate (17.5%)
- UK charities - exempt but must submit to the supplier a declaration
- EU - out of scope (no VAT ) but must supply VAT number for reverse charging
- Other countries - out of scope (no VAT)
